Site Visit - Arts Centre Behind The Scenes Tour

  • Arts Centre Melbourne Collections Store, Hamer Hall 100 St Kilda Rd Melbourne, VIC, 3004 (map)

Join us for the first event of the year of the PHA Vic and Tas event calendar, an exclusive behind the scenes tour of the Arts Centre's Australian Music Vault, Research Centre and Archives Store.

The Australian Music Vault is an exhibition showcasing Australian music, digital participatory experiences and iconic objects from the Australian Performing Arts Collection.

The Research Centre provides access to the Australian Performing Arts Collection and reference library for study into performing arts history. This is a valuable resource for academics, students, historians, genealogists, authors, documentary makers, designers, performers and other arts practitioners.

The Archives Store houses the Australian Performing Arts Collection (APAC), which is dedicated to the collection, preservation and interpretation of Australia’s circus, dance, music, opera and theatre heritage.

Collecting began in the late 1970s and two early major acquisitions were the J. C. Williamson Theatre Archive and the Dame Nellie Melba Collection. Today, the collection holds over 680,000 items, including major acquisitions from Kylie Minogue, Nick Cave, Barry Humphries, Bell Shakespeare and The Australian Ballet.

Dinner will be available after the tour at The Barre in Arts Centre theatre building (spire). Order and purchase your own food & drinks at a 10% discount.

Places are limited, so hurry it so book your spot on this exclusive tour.  Let us know if you are able to stay for dinner.

Attending the site visit will earn 10 PD points.

Book by 10 February.
